“So, what do you do?”

I used to hate that question.

Because for so long I didn’t have a good answer for it.

“I’m a storyteller for brands,” I would tell people.

“It’s kind of like journalism (the job I used to do and that everyone understood)… but for businesses.”

*smile and nod*

I’m pretty sure my own family and friends didn’t know what I really did.

Can you relate?

The thing is, lacking clarity around what you do is costing you time, money and customers.

Because if you struggle to tell your mates what you do…

it usually means your website, social media and marketing are failing at their job to tell people what you do.

Those are the places where you have a crack at making a powerful first impression.

You can capture people’s interest, or you can lose it in an instant.

The story you tell about what you do and why people should care can turn a “hmm, not sure” into a “heck yes!”.

Getting clear on what I do – my story – has not only given me more confidence in my business…

but others see that confidence and start leaning in.

That naturally leads to more interest, leads, customers…

All the things that small businesses struggle with, right?

So back to the initial question:

“What do you do?”

Now’s a good time to get really clear on how you answer that question.
